Why it matters

See the car the way a mechanic would, before you pay

A viewing and a short test drive show you how a car looks on the day. They rarely show you what has been repaired, what is about to wear out, or what warning codes have been cleared.

A pre-purchase inspection is an independent check of a used car's condition, done before you commit. Our inspector works through the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, body and paint, electronics and underbody, then road-tests the car and writes up what they found, with photos.

You then decide with evidence: go ahead, negotiate on the price using the repair recommendations, or walk away.

Book Your Inspection
  1. 01

Ask the seller for permission. Most genuine sellers and dealerships accept an independent inspection. A refusal is itself useful information.

  2. 02

Share the car's location. A home, office car park or dealership forecourt all work, as long as there is safe space around the car.

  3. 03

Make sure the keys are available and someone can give the inspector access at the booked time.

  4. 04

If you can, ask that the car isn't driven beforehand. Starting a cold engine can reveal issues that disappear once it is warm.

  5. 05

Have the listing details handy. Make, model, year and the seller's claims about service history or accidents.

  6. 06

Read our used-car checklist for what to look at yourself during the viewing.

FAQ

Pre-purchase inspection questions

What is a pre-purchase inspection (PPI)?

A pre-purchase inspection, often shortened to PPI, is an independent assessment of a used car's mechanical, electrical and body condition before you buy it. It ends with a report you can use to decide whether to buy and at what price.

Is it worth inspecting a car from a dealership?

Yes. Dealer cars can still have repaired accident damage, worn components or stored fault codes. An independent inspection gives you a view that does not depend on the seller.

What happens if the inspection finds problems?

Nothing is decided for you. The report ranks findings by importance and includes repair recommendations, which you can use to negotiate, ask the seller to fix items, or walk away. See how to read an inspection report.

How long does it take?

About 1 hour 15 minutes for Pro and 1 hour 30 minutes for Premium.

Does the inspection include the car's history?

The Premium package includes a CARFAX vehicle history report (value AED 145). A history report and a physical inspection answer different questions. see the difference.

Can an inspection guarantee the car has no problems?

No inspection can guarantee a used car will be trouble-free. It tells you the car's condition on the day, based on what can be checked without dismantling it. What an inspection can and cannot tell you.
